JESUS: AS OUR LORD Psalm16:2

The word “LORD” is used to refer to someone in Authority, also used as a title of respect according to the Oxford advance Learners, Dictionary.

  • A Lord is also a master that possesses or has the authority to manage, direct and instruct. He owns and can trade with His property.

  • In short, a Lord is the one that has an authority over a property that has been traded in.

  • Jesus as our Lord is the only one who has an authority over all things Phil 2:9-11; forcefully on all who forsake Him but honorably on all those who seeks Him Ezra 8:22

  • His Lordship was earned having traded in his blood on the cross as an exchange for our death that we may have His life.

  • All men sinned through Adam and died. But all men can come to life through Jesus who paid for our death instead. Gal 2:20

  • His Lordship over us is perceived through these factors: Adoption, servanthood, sonship and good works.

ADOPTION

  • He purchased us. He owns us. We are not our own. Rom6:3-14

  • We have been adopted. We chose to go with Him as our owner having shown us love and stretched out His hand to us for help in our lowly and condemned state as prisoners to sin. Rom 7:18-25, 8:1-3,15-17

  • This understanding calls for great REVERENCE for Him. Prov1:7

  • Man was rejected, dejected and ejected out of God’s kingdom into darkness but was taken into light and restored to that authority over all creation.

SERVANTHOOD Galatians 4, 2 corinthians 7:23

  • Servanthood teaches us humility; the essence of man.

  • We have to first of all take the position of a servant before enjoying our sonship.

  • God’s eternal purpose for man is THAT WE HAVE AN INHERITANCE IN HIM Psalm16:3-6 through servanthood. An attitude of humility before Him all the time is our obligation. The word humility is from the word “humus” meaning sand, earth from which the word “human” is derived. Simply put, human beings are made to be humble and live on earth. Phil 2:5-6

  • Servanthood is a position where humility is imbedded and imbibed.

  • He is our master. We as the servant must live for Him. We have not a life of our own; already bought over though. Luke 6:46

  • Humility is embedded in us. We learn a lot about His doctrines, precepts and ordinances to acquire much grace and truth. Proverbs 11:2, Phil 2:3-7

  • Of a truth, God intends us to live as slaves first that we may appreciate sonship. We learn to handle the Father’s property very well having been handled as His property, ourselves. Phil 2:12-18, Gal 4

  • On the journey to sonship, we must tarry at the post of slavery to become slaves to God. Rom 6:18-22

  • Remember that the slavery as a paradigm or mindset under His Lordship that keeps us submissive all the time on earth is an attitude of humility. 1Pete 5:5-10

  • In Him, we are freeman. 1corin 7:22

SONSHIP

  • Having been adopted by Jesus, we must learn of Him through servanthood and reign with Him through sonship. 1John 3:1-3

  • This process truly perfects Him as our Lord.

  • Our sonship connotes our devotion to Him.

  • The purpose of our adoption is to be devoted; He seeks an intimate relationship which is only attainable through sonship.

  • The day we exceed His Lordship, we writhe under His wrath.

  • So humility must constantly keep us under His lordship.

  • His intention is to bring us into His house to reign with Him. John 8:35, 14:1-4

  • Our sonship is hinged on God bringing us into Himself through Jesus Christ as co-heir. John 17:21-23, Rom 8:16-17

  • Our sonship is being in Christ. Eph 1:4-11

  • Christ is referred to as OUR LORD.1 Col1:19-20

  • So His lordship over us is that we must be found in Him. Col 2:8-10

  • Being one with Him in spirit, soul (heart, mind) and body truly makes Him our Lord. Eph 2:13-22

  • At redemption, our spirit was renewed but our soul was not. Our work under His lordship makes us renew our mind constantly to remain one with Him in Christ. Rom 12:1-2, John 5:1-10, Phil2:12

  • He is the Lord of All not just the Lord of the Christians

“Therefore God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name. That in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. And every tongue confesses and acknowledges that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” Phil 2:9-11

  • It is of necessity that all knee must bow because all things were created by Him and for Him that in all things He might have the PREEMINENCE. Col 1:16-19, 2:9-10

  • So It is worthy that all that we do must be done in His name and for His glory. Eph 6:7, Col3:17&23

  • Being under His lordship is to remain in His house to become entirely what He alone will direct us to do unto every good works. 2Tim 2:19-21, 3:16-17

  • We are to serve the Lord by abiding in Him to do good works which He will reveal to us INDIVIDUALLY in all sphere of life in righteousness. Matt 6:31-34

  • The kingdom of God is the domain of God over all things through what we are wired for. A talent or aptitude in us is the seed of God to reign on earth through us after our redemption.

  • Without redemption, man uses that talent for iniquity.

  • All men have a measure of grace; what you can do with utmost pleasure even when never rewarded.

  • Discovering this and waiting on God for direction is the key to His lordship over our lives.

  • In this kingdom of God, we must relate with our king the Lord on a personal basis.

  • He assigns our duties, works and obligation as we relate with Him. He says to one go and to another come. In as much as in Christ we all have one call: abiding in Him; we also have different activities to serve Him. 1corin 12:5-7, 14-27

Study extensively John 21 which teaches about minding our business in the kingdom.

  • All things are by and for Him and must be reconciled back to Him. 2coin 5:18-19

  • We are meant to do this for Him with wisdom as He directs us by His Spirit. 1corin 2:9-10

  • His Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom. All creation was made under the supervision of wisdom. Proverbs 8

  • Jesus is the wisdom of God. 1corin 1:30

  • Wisdom encompasses or contains all that we are to do collectively and individually for God. In doing them lies our glory which is approved of God to His praise. Isaiah 43:21

  • He reveals wisdom to us as the good works He prepared for us from the beginning of and before creation. 1corin 2:10-16

GOOD WORKS

  • Many people have a job through which food is put on their tables but do not yet have a work.

  • Your work is by revelation from God through what He prepares you for and has wrought in you.

  • A perfect clue to this is your potentials, talent, aptitude or disposition. 1corin 2:12, Proverbs8:12

  • Wisdom finds out the knowledge of witty inventions, things that makes us serve humanity and creation in honor of God to His glory.

  • Consider Genesis 1, God made a work for Adam before he was created.

  • The work is to tend and cultivate creation unto fruitfulness.

  • This fruitfulness is to be evident in 5 major areas of human endeavors: fruit of the womb, fruit of the Spirit, fruit of the mouth, fruit of the hands and fruit of the mind.

  • Children, Gal 5:22-23, praise to God, good woks and ideasrespectively are the fruit products God made man for. Eph 1:8-12

  • Taking a clue from these, we are expected to be inspired by God to do works on earth that will keep and reconcile the creation to God. 2corin 5:18-20

  • There are works of righteousness and woks of iniquity. Either for what our work will be tested on the day of the Lord.

  • Iniquity talks of anti-creation; works that destroy His creation while works of righteousness promotes God’s domain and refresh the creation.

  • Anti-creation, anti-God, antichrist is the spirit of evil.

  • God is the only good one and His seed in us opposes the antichrist.

  • The knowledge of good and evil is evident in all things. When good is to be done, evil is also present to forfeit efforts. But the Spirit of God through us wants to make all things new.

  • Our fields of endeavors as revealed by God must be taken for God. We must rule and reign for God in them.

  • All things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose. Rom 8:28-32

  • All things are good but man has handled all things with perversion. 1coin 3:3-23

  • The Lord made both evil and good Is 45:7 but He chose good and want His sons to be like Him. Heb 12:10

  • He has shown us the path of life which is doing good. Micah 6:8, Heb 13:21, 3John 1:11

  • God who is the only good one intends and teaches us to do good by His influence through His Spirit within us so that we may conquer evil with good.

  • Even though, we carry within us the knowledge of good and evil that through Him our doing good may destroy evil completely. 1Pet 3:9-13, Rom 12:17&21

  • We are expected to do good works as our allegiance to the Lord by honorable occupations and dealings. Titus 3:8&14

  • His lordship over us is ultimately ascertained when and only when we bear fruits or live by, in and for Him. Jeremiah 10:23

  • HIS LORDSHIP OVER US IS ABOUT OUR TOTAL ALLEGIENCE TO HIM FOREVER; it’s not by choice after we give our lives to Him but the essence of coming to Him in the first place.

  • Salvation is free; discipleship costs total devotion.

  • Jesus lordship over us is for us to become His disciples.

  • The word “disciple” is from the word “discipline” and His lordship instills discipline in us to become and maintain being His disciples.

  • When He shall return to this earth, it is all about taking His disciples with Him so wherever He is, so we also may be there until the renewal of the heaven and the earth.

  • COME LORD JESUS for us who not only call you Lord but also obey and live for you as OUR LORD.

JESUS IS OUR LORD
